Greek History

Ancient Greek tribes travelled from the Turkish region and established modern-day Greece. Because of this cultural development Greece gained power and ruled for many centuries in Europe. The ancient Greek civilization advanced under the Minoan and Mycenaean civilizations. The Greek Island of Crete became the centre of Minoan civilization between 7th and 15th Century BC. The alphabetic scripts of Linear A and B go to the Minoan civilization. The Mycenaean civilization also contributes to it. These writing scripts mark the advancement of Greek civilization.

Dark Age in Greek Civilization

The Dark Age continues for four centuries from the 8th to 12th Century BC. Throughout this period Greek civilization declined and was devastated. The destruction of Greek cities and monuments became the Dark Age. Some events happened in this period. First Olympic games were held in 776 BC. Homer wrote the Iliad and Odyssey.
